Inside A Tech-Free School Where Tech Executives Send Their Kids

  1. When I was in school until the 6th-7th grade we really didn`t have much 'tech' besides learning how to type. I don't feel my education turned out stunted in any regard.
From the 7th grade we only use computers when needed, and if we have book work we will do book work. Computers were only for researching, typing papers to be printed out (only did it once), and online tests we couldn’t do with just paper. Computers also just save time when researching thing, not to say that books are horrible but a computer makes things way faster. So if computers make things faster, and this school already had time for the other extra things then we could just use computers to make whatever researching is needed to go by easier and then do other things.
As for me I don't think a school needs to ban technology but I completely agree that through 5th grade tech use should be extremely limited. Less than an hour a day on any screen. I think iPads and iPhones should not be used by these children under 5th grade at all!
It's extremely addictive to these little brains and studies show a reduction in brain development with 2hours screen time or more a day.
I grew up playing outside from dawn to dusk and I can easily detach myself from my smart phone when I need to be present and engaged with those around me, children can not.
Being a student at the moment, I often use a computer and a smartphone, so I have books, dictionaries, dictionaries with transcription and this helps a lot when learning languages.
In conclusion, I want to note that it is necessary to use information technologies, but it is necessary to filter the receipt of information.

  2. The classroom of today looks and operates significantly differently to the classrooms of five, ten and even 20 year’s ago.
I believe that there are both cons and pros in studying with the use of modern technologies.
As for the phones, I can say that Mobile phone plays an important role in our life. We can not imagine even one day without this thing. If we go somewhere, plan something we always take our phone with us.
Nowadays everyone has a phone: child and adult. It’s a great way of communication to each other. You are able to call almost any moment, send a voice message or text message to the friend or relative. And they also help students quickly find any mm information (as well as computers, etc.). I can not imagine how people lived before without mobile phones.
But there is also another side. Students in the modern world abuse the use of mobile phones too much . Even an experiment was conducted in England, where it was estimated that a student pulls out his phone at least 13 times in one hour of a lesson.
Also, with the advent of the phone, many have stopped doing anything on their own, counting in their minds, for example, or trying to translate in their minds from one language to another, and so on. Also, many began to cheat, and stopped using their brain, even if the task was very easy.
This suggests that, although modern technologies have simplified our lives in many aspects, but at the same time, people have become lazier and dumber. If you can not organize your day, you will waste your time with games and social networks. Children, teenagers and even adults sometime can not control the time.
As my teacher Marianna Akhmedovna says“ "It is possible to make grape juice or wine from grapes, but what exactly to make from it depends on the person himself." I completely agree with this, and I believe that if a student understands that education is only necessary for him, he should understand that he needs to try and study well without using modern technology as the most important assistant.

  3. In my opinion, the best education at school is education without the use of Internet technologies.
Nowadays, technology greatly distracts from the educational process. If a student wipes a smartphone or any other gadget and asks him about any topic, he will not be able to quickly navigate. That's because students are used to always looking into their gadgets to find answers and so on.
I also think technology can negatively affect the development of students' communication skills and social interaction. During the use of Internet technologies, the ability of students to have real live communication decreases. Technologies can provoke deception and evasion of tasks.
Students always find ways to dodge assignments, and digital technologies will make it even easier - from copying and using someone else's work to buying a ready-made abstract or presentation on the Internet.
The quality of sources on the Internet leaves much to be desired. The Internet is a blessing and a curse. Students will need the ability to distinguish high-quality sources of information from unreliable ones. In educational organizations, you can create a list of electronic educational resources, information from which students can trust, use, copy and adapt.
I believe that it is better for students to study in classical schools without the introduction of technology. This will increase their level of knowledge and their attentiveness.

  4. Paper diaries have almost sunk into oblivion — electronic diaries are widely used. You can study with a teacher of any rank and nationality, even if he lives in a different time zone and speaks a foreign language.

Online education is developing at an incredible rate. Soon, not only remote lessons with real people will be used, but also studies under the guidance of artificial intelligence. For example, Microsoft has already released an educational application for learning Chinese. In it, the student responds to short printed and audio messages from the teacher-bot in the chat. Artificial intelligence analyzes the answers and selects the right load.
The phone plays an important role in our lives. If we go somewhere, we plan something that we always take our phone with us.
Everyone has a phone these days: for a child and an adult. It's a great way to communicate with each other. You can call at any time, send a voice message or text message to a friend or relative. I can't imagine how people used to live without mobile phones.
But there is another side. Students in the modern world abuse mobile phones too often . on the Internet now you can quickly translate an unfamiliar word or information.
In Korea, for example, phones are taken away before the start of the lesson, and then they are given away. I think it's right, so the student will be able to think with his head and not be distracted from the lesson.

  5. Пахрудинова А.

I have changed several schools during my entire training. If we exclude the last place of my studies, the schools were not technically equipped enough, and I did not use the phone at that time. Nevertheless, I have never felt oppressed in knowledge.
On the contrary, when I moved to a school where gadgets are being used with might and main, it turned out that I know the material an order of magnitude better than others and I don't have to constantly check the rules in the textbook or in Google to perform certain exercises. And I solved math problems for which it was necessary to turn on my head, and not the Internet, without any problems.
However, it was the time of my childhood, and technology was then a priori just beginning to be introduced into the usual everyday life when studying at school. Now teachers ask so many things that most of them sometimes even seem impossible to me. And this is where computers really help out schoolchildren. Technologies were invented to simplify the task of our training, so that students have the opportunity to develop themselves in other directions. Therefore, I do not consider such a policy quite rational.
Also, do not forget that school mainly includes the beginning of adolescence, for which some prohibitions on the contrary are a signal to action.
Although, in addition to the minuses, there are undoubtedly advantages to this teaching method. Personally, I think that you should not limit yourself to one thing when you can combine several ways of learning.

  6. Learning is the most important part in the formation of a person from generation to generation. It allows you to form a personality, show your talents, achieve a certain status and financial position. New priorities have emerged in the modern world. Most of the teacher's work, whether it is maintaining documentation, filling out diaries, journals, or organizing and conducting testing, has been transferred to a special, new format – electronic. The recent development of the global computer network Internet has opened up new opportunities for improving the education system. In the modern world, many regions actively use Internet technologies in the educational process: telecommunication projects are being developed, teachers create educational websites, virtual subject rooms together with schoolchildren, TV and video conferences and seminars are organized. With the help of electronic training programs, information material is regularly updated. Information and communication technologies are increasingly being used today. In a word, the development of information technologies provides huge opportunities for the creation of new methods in educational activities and thereby improves its quality.

  7. I would like to go to such a school. And in the future I would like to send my children there. In my opinion a lot of kids do not know how to interact with real people and that's because tech is raising them.
Technology can negatively affect the development of communication skills and social interaction. And it's important for kids to have various skills so they actually know how to function in life in ways unrelated to computers. The Internet is a big threat. There is a lot of immoral and negative information on the Internet. And access for children should be limited. in addition, the physiological state and health of schoolchildren deteriorates.
I would buy ordinary books and games for my children, trying to limit them from technology

  8. When I was studying in France, we were forbidden to bring our phones to class. However, some students still brought them. If someone was caught with a phone, it was taken away and returned only to parents through the director. To be honest, as for me, this method helped to be more focused on the lessons. Here, in Dagestan, only a small remark can be made for the presence of a phone, and I think that this is not very good, since the student is quickly distracted. So I can definitely say that I would like to study at such a school.

  9. In my opinion, a school without modern equipment is definitely the best school. In fact, such a philosophy of the school is aimed at creativity, thinking, involvement in the lesson, focus on knowledge. Information is much better absorbed if you focus only on the lesson itself, and gadgets distract the student's attention very much.

The entire adult generation tells us how strong and effective Soviet schools were. After all, technology was not used at all at that time. And most adults still remember very well the material they studied at school.

I studied at a school where computers were used only in computer science classes, and phones were completely banned, but at home we could use them and it was not difficult to find any information. Someone will say that it is very important to understand modern technologies in order to keep up with the times and this should be taught at school, but after school the younger generation so spends enough time with gadgets and at least at school should focus only on gaining new knowledge and assimilation.

  10. Nowadays a lot of children have the opportunity to get their education to a higher level, by studying in such schools. It’s important nowadays to know how to use high tech products , such as smartphones, computers , interactive board and other stuff. Yeah , we all know that technology can also harm a lot of people not only with dangerous radiation that all people talk about , but because of information that some children don’t have to know at all . But if we will use high-tech products wisely , I’m sure we will achieve nothing but good things. Schools nowadays are built by new generation. To make them more talented , clever , to show that new generation should go further than we once did .
